Goes "diving" twice a week, generally with friends

1 DEFINING "DIVE"
-there's an older, more regular crowd
-"you know you're in a dive when you're in a dive"
-you get more random weird stories from dives than from "normal bars or restaurants"
-more bar than restaurant
-cheaper prices
-"no" to food (doesn't go to dives to eat)
-goes a lot for shows
- "the bartenders are way better even if they're not your friend"
-stereotypes- playboy pinups in the bathroom, old alcohol paraphernalia, juke box that "kinda works"
-"cheap beer.... drunk bitches.... pool sharking
-"they just kind of exist. You're not sure how or why they do, but they just kind of make it.

2 NEW DIVES
generally just shows up to  new dives by way of friends/word of mouth
-won't drive far, wants to stay close

3 PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH DIVES
generally goes with friends
not considered a regular anywhere, but people would recognize him and probably know his name
-goes out because friends are out, friends with some of the bartenders or bands that play at dives
-50/50 on if he'll dive hop or stay at one place
-some have shows, other times it's to meet up with friends to "just get fucking hammered and make mistakes"

4 COMMUNITY
Yes he feels like part of a community
-everyone knows everyone
-you sit and talk with people that you may not be "friends with" but "if you're in your twenties and you hang out -you see the same people most of the time (reliable)

5 NET SHARING
minimal net sharing currently
thinks he'd get more involved if there was a site like ours
-uses facebook for event organization and meet-ups
-he'd want to find out about specials/special events

COMMUNITY

Mascot? Quirky trait? Vincent Skaggs (been going to dives for 40-50 years) and David Buoy
"We open at 9am and the crowd is generally 52+ years old. Every hour the age drops seven years
What makes a dive a dive? lighting, personality, intimacy, the smell - "Every dive has a smell. Ours is cooled meat grease and fresh popcorn."
Cliental- body hair, body odor, tattoos. This is kind of their last resort "they know better than to fuck up."

Rose (a patron): Cheap beer, pool, juke box = dive
Patron that wished to remain nameless: they all come for powerball night
